Herat Online School teachers

Herat Online School was founded in 2021, at a time when the doors of many schools were closed to Afghanistan’s girls. It grew from a simple but firm belief: no wall should ever stand between a person and their right to learn.

We built it so that the lamp of learning would not go out, even in the darkest days; so that girls kept away from school could still learn, think, dream and build the future they deserve.

Since it began, it has welcomed thousands of students and held hundreds of classes. For us, these classes are more than a few hours of teaching: they are windows onto knowledge, ability and hope.

About this form

This form records your application and your agreement to the terms and responsibilities of volunteer teaching at Herat Online School. Please fill in the information carefully.

Herat Online School works to give students free educational opportunities, and your support is a valuable part of that journey. Although volunteering is unpaid, responsibility and respect for the school’s rules and principles are expected of everyone.

The security, privacy and safety of our students always come first. We expect every volunteer to act with respect and responsibility, to protect students’ information, and to report any concern about their safety to the education manager.

Please read every section carefully. Ticking the statements and confirming each section means you accept these responsibilities and commit to a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment.

Online security and data protection

This section protects user accounts, student information and AEA’s learning resources online. All volunteer teachers must follow the principles of digital security, privacy and responsible use of AEA’s platforms.

I agree that:

I confirm that I understand and accept the commitments in this section on confidentiality of information, professional boundaries, respectful conduct and following AEA’s guidelines.

Student protection and safety

Because many of our students in Afghanistan live in sensitive circumstances, protecting their identity, personal information and safety is one of every teacher’s core responsibilities. Respecting privacy, keeping professional boundaries and reporting safety concerns are essential to a safe learning environment.

I agree that:

I confirm that I understand my responsibilities for safeguarding students, protecting their privacy, online safety and reporting concerns, and I am committed to following these principles.

Teaching commitments

Continuity of education matters a great deal to students. This section sets out the basic terms and responsibilities of volunteer teachers: completing the course, keeping us informed if problems arise, and helping to hand over responsibilities in an orderly way.

I agree that:

I confirm that I understand my teaching responsibilities, including completing the course as scheduled, attending regularly, working with the team and letting them know about problems, and I am committed to carrying them out.
